It's that time of year again! The 2014 Youth Media Awards will be announced January 27 in Philadelphia, but you can watch it all here on a live webcast beginning at 8a.m. E.T.
What are the Youth Media Awards?
According to the ALA "Each year the American Library Association honors books, videos, and
other outstanding materials for children and teens. Recognized worldwide
for the high quality they represent, the ALA Youth Media Awards,
including the prestigious Newbery, Caldecott, Printz, and Coretta Scott
King Book Awards, guide parents, educators, librarians, and others in
selecting the best materials for youth. Selected by committees composed
of librarians and other literature and media experts, the awards
encourage original and creative work in the field of children’s and
young adult literature and media."
There is always a lot of energy as everyone tries to guess which books will win or be honored for which award. Which books do you think should earn one of these prestigious awards? Tell us in comments.
